DSL Services<\/h3>\n

Digital subscriber line\u00a0(DSL; originally\u00a0digital subscriber loop) is a family of technologies that are used to transmit\u00a0digital data\u00a0over\u00a0telephone lines. In telecommunications marketing, the term DSL is widely understood to mean\u00a0asymmetric digital subscriber line\u00a0(ADSL), the most commonly installed DSL technology, for\u00a0Internet access. DSL service can be delivered simultaneously with\u00a0wired telephone service\u00a0on the same telephone line. This is possible because DSL uses higher\u00a0frequency bands\u00a0for data. On the customer premises, a\u00a0DSL filter\u00a0on each non-DSL outlet blocks any high-frequency interference to enable simultaneous use of the voice and DSL services.<\/p>\n

What are the main benefits of connecting to the Internet via DSL?<\/strong>
\nDSL can provide virtually instantaneous transmission of voice, data and video over ordinary copper phone lines. A DSL connection can eliminate the frustrating delays associated when waiting to download information and graphics from the Internet. It provides residential subscribers with a cost effective uninterrupted high speed Internet connection. For schools, businesses and branch offices, DSL provides fast access to mission-critical information on corporate Intranet servers and the Internet. Another significant benefit is that a DSL connection is always on-line (like a LAN connection) with no waiting time for dialing or connecting.<\/p>\n
